Welcome to my corner of the internet!

Hiya! I’m Frode, and I made this site a while ago at this point, with the reasoning that I already was spending a lot of time online, so I may as well make my own little corner of the internet. That decision was better than I ever anticipated, and here I am, with a website I love, new lovely communities and a much better relationship to the internet. Most weeks my phone's screen time averages below 2.5h a day, which may not sound too impressive, but it is for me! My doomscrolling has decreased drastically - yay!

This site has been growing for a long time now, so there’s a lot to look at. If you are hungry for more, head to “fun stuff” (it’s in the sidebar) and check out all the fun links and sites I’ve come across! After all, the internet runs on links!

Current little guy

(please press it)

If you find anything interesting here or in my link hoard, shoot me an email (it’s also in the sidebar) or send a message in the guestbook - I’m here because I love coding, but making friends and interacting with the community is a great bonus! I can also be found on some forums, namely the 32 bit cafe discourse, and on pixel cat’s end! My username is Hello_Frode on the former and HelloFrode on the latter, so I’m easy to spot!

Finally, some minor disclaimers: I am an adult, and this site may well reflect that. It is first and foremost intended for other adults - I don’t necessarily have content I personally find inappropriate, but I also make no attempt at censoring myself. This site is ever-changing, because I love to fiddle with it into the small hours of the night (it’s 02:20 as this is being written). If you like something, I recommend documenting it yourself, as it may well change or disappear without warning. I am also my own person, making this site with no connection to other people or institutions - anything I say or do is a reflection of me, and only me. I am far from infallible, so if something bothers you you can absolutely tell me - send me an email and I will do my best to set things straight. For my more “academic” writing, it’s not like it’s peer reviewed. Look at sources (because I try to have some) and if something seems off it may well be! I’m just some guy!

Updates

27/Mar/25Re-vamped part of the homepage. Changed text, too. If there are issues please send me an e-mail! Also fixed Long-form.

14/Jan/25 It lives! There have been some general updates over on The Paper. DO NOT OPEN LONG-FORM IT IS A DISASTER!! I'll get to it soonish!!

30/Nov/24 Added a page to show off my records, and made buttons for my site! (They're in the sidebar!)

28/Nov/24 I have added some stuff from my sketchbook, and there's more to come. The Paper is also slowly coming together as a whole..!

10/Oct/24 Have forgotten to update this the last couple times I've been working on things. The vampires page is mostly in a presentable state, and rambling, artsy and recipes have been removed in favor of The Paper

22/Jul/24 Added a content warning page before you enter the vampires page :) Also generally playing around here and there again, glad to be back at it!

06/May/24 New book review over on rambling! Not even by Greider, this time!

21/Apr/24 Vampires page has gotten some love since last time, and I've written another book review thingy. Oh, and I'm in my first webring! Check it out over on the rambling page :)

08/Apr/24 New creature added! Somewhere... I'm still around!

27/feb/24 New page! My flowchart for what to do when the energy just isn't there haha

26/feb/24 Added a sitemap! Both for ease of access and for my own peace of mind... Now let's see if I manage to keep it up-to-date

23/feb/24 Vampires still a WIP, but it's getting there! Yay! I've learned a lot already!

14/jan/24 Vampires is getting revamped! It's still very much a WIP (and does not function on mobile yet...), but it's much closer to what I want. It's also forcing me to (finally) learn some more CSS. Exciting!

09/jan/24 FINALLY figured out how to make a button to change fonts for the page easily! I hope that makes this site a bit more accessible! Take care!

20/dec/23 Added a new page, about Yule :) Hopefully a decent read! (find in sidebar of toy box for now) Think I also forgot to update when I made my last essay, Epiphyllum Oxypetalum :)

29/sep/23 Made the rambling page less... intense. It should be a generally calm space now :) Go there and have some tea, why don't you? Some other general fixes, too.

27/aug/23 Many small fixes. Syktyvkar campaign mostly finished. Some more buttons, some changes to me-page, and so forth.

18/aug/23 Added some recipes rather than doing anything particularly useful, irl or on here. Updated home page of easily read version! Now to play some Call of Cuthulu and maybe fix my washing maxhine... oop

17/aug/23 Ooooh boy. Trying to completely overhaul the home pages! Wish me luck xoxo While a lot of the main pages are slowly taking shape, the easier font pages and such are lagging behind for today.

10/aug/23 Added a button that hopefully makes the site more dyslexia friendly. Press it!

9/aug/23 Added an updates section. Added toy box page. Teacups now on rambling page. Added campaigns page to vampire section. Began transferring Syktyvkar story. More work to do before it's done.

Resources used

The font used is called Venice Classic. My layout used to be built on Sadgrl online's layout builder. Though I have come quite far since then I still believe she should get some credit for it. Some blinkies come from the amazing blinkies cafe! The rest of my stuff has quite random origins, but if you press a graphic you'll usually find yourself at the site of the creator. If you don't, it's probably because I don't know the original creator. Usually that means it's from a collection without sources. Sometimes, stuff is my own, though! If you see something that isn't properly credited that you know the source of, please send me a message! thanks, and ily'all

The header of this page is a dithered variant of Meteor shower illustrated by Étienne Léopold Trouvelot. It is sourced from old book illustrations. A great source in general! Any other unsourced "detail" images on the moon-themed pages will be from there.

The top sidebar image is a detail from Love the sentinel, painted by Jean Honoré Fragonard. Mind you, he's made a handfull of iterations of that specific painting lol.
